Audio Books
What are your views on these? Will it come close to reading a book? I spend around 1.5 hours on the road each day and was thinking to give the audio book a try. I am not sure if it will work so I am asking you. Have you heard a book?If yes, did you like the experience? Will you do it again? If you have not tried audio books, will you give it a try? Why?
Leave me a comment please!

February 17, 2011 at 10:35 amI have tried audio books a few years back and really liked them. One that I tried that I loved so much was “Diary of Anne Frank” – loved the narration. If you get a chance, do try it.

February 7, 2011 at 4:57 amMerlyn – thanks! my first attempt did not work – maybe I picked the wrong kind of book and I really did not like the reader’s voice. I will have a post on that soon! Keep reading/listening and keep commenting too 😉

February 4, 2011 at 6:36 pmHi Vinitha,
Just tried my hands (ears :P) on audio books and it is turning out to be great.. Remembered your post on Audio Books so thought I will just drop by.
I started with Adventures of Robin Hood. 😀 And it was ecstatic. It felt like I am part of the story being in the forest witnessing Robin’s escapades… The reader did a good job, there were few accompaniments like sounds for the swish of an arrow/the combats etc.(They felt quite real 🙂 ) I also tried Pride and Prejudice. Though it didn’t have any accompanying music or mimicry the strong British accent was a pleasure to hear 😛
I would recommend it, especially if u have long travel hours.. I just plugged the ipod into my ears as I was cooking, and I realized I almost ‘finished’ a book which otherwise would have been one herculean task considering the lazy bum I am 😛 (Well that would definitely not apply to you but I am sure it will help you achieve your reading targets)
Happy reading 🙂

January 13, 2011 at 4:48 amThanks KK – NPR and ipod are my staple. I have not tried podcasts and that might be a great way. I need to ask you for recommendations. Audio book – I will have a review soon. I just put a couple of them on hold at my local library. I am not sure if I can do fiction with audiobooks. Also for informational reads I think audio books will work.

January 11, 2011 at 6:59 pmI spend 1 hr on the car daily – npr and my ipod keeps me company. I have just now started to get the hang of podcasts (after recommendations from my friend) and I find it a great way to catch up on stuff you missed on radio.
I have not listened to an audio book yet. But I would really like to give it a try. I skim through a book a lot when I read and I think if someone reads it out to me, it would help me absorb more and not be hasty.
