My Top 2017 Plans and Goals
My 2016
I have been trying to classify and box up 2016. It has been a hard job. 2016 has been a strange year. It had its moments. It was mostly a passive year. 2016 was the year, I tried to go with the flow. I didn’t want to fight. I hadn’t given up but I had resigned and accepted whatever the year threw at me. It was an experiment and I am glad it is over.
2016’s passivity made me realise that I am not the kind of person who likes to sit and watch life pass. I need to challenge myself, fight my own demons and monsters and sport many battle scars. I am ready to be done with my passive 2016 and move on.
Word of 2017
I have never had a WOTY (Word-of-the-Year). 2017 is the year that changes that.
ACTION is my 2017 word of the year.
The passivity of 2016 has to go and I have to pave the path I want to walk on. I am ready or so I would like to think for 2017 but then are we ever ready for the unexpected?

The Blog
Let us start with the obvious. As you can I see I have spruced up Poohsden. This blog has been a part of my for over 9 years now and I am rather too attached to it. I have not been an active blogger in 2016 but that is going to change. I have planned posts for the coming year and I am actually looking forward to writing and connecting with readers and bloggers.
Beyond actively writing and promoting posts, I don’t have goals to meet for Poohsden. I don’t intend to chase traffic or associations. When and if they happen, I will make a decision on where I want Poohsden to take me.
Morning Pages
I have heard how conscious writing can kickstart creativity and pave way for a great day. I plan to try this technique this year. It is simple – 3 pages of hand-written thoughts every morning. The notebook is on my nightstand, the pen is waiting and I am doing it.
Has anyone tried Morning Pages? What are your experiences?
Reading Goals
Like all years, I do have some reading goals. I plan to re-read a lot in 2017 and go back to some books that deserve more attention. Unlike other years, I don’t have genres or a number to target. Instead I have a list of books and authors I want to read. #Read2017 post will be up soon with my reading goals. It includes Agatha Christie, Murakami, The Hobbit, Ferrante, Anne Tyler and more.
Fitness Goals
This is one area where I am not trying anything new as soon as the clock strikes 12. I am at a very comfortable place with my fitness regime. My HIIT workout sessions at Avenu Fitness and Bharatnatyam classes at SPARC keeping me moving and push the right buttons. I plan to pursue both of them. Maybe I will add something to the mix but the main idea is to be consistent and determined.
Writing Goals
Beyond the blog, I plan to work on that book I have been working on for years. My abandoned and crappy first draft needs a new life. I am thinking about trying the Pomodoro Technique when writing. While, the concept sounds awesome, I am not sure if it will work for me. It is worth a try.
Those are most of my goals for 2017. I have a few others including being more active on Social Media (Twitter and Instagram specifically) and putting in a dedicated work time for my weekly editing jobs.
Do you have plans and goals for the year? Share them. I would love to cheer you on as we jump through the hurdles.
