A Piece of Me
A piece of me left behind
a sliver here and a whole chunk there
and so I erode.
I travel and fall in love
Places, people and the lingering echoes of my laughter
Roots they call it; I snigger
The comforts of routine
Unpopular opinion for sure
This time I left a piece of me
Amongst chimes and the mint
In the kitchen
the one with a precariously suspended microwave
Among the flowers
and Halloween decor in the neighbor’s yard.
Four years of memories
moments and photos
and a piece of me
Corpus Christi…..
