And she turned heads
This is not a paid review – Melissa and Doug have no clue that I am reviewing their product here. I am just a very satisfied customer.
As we zipped through airports she turned heads as she rode her bright red trunki. Here is a review of the product we love.
Kuttyma turned 2 just as we were finalized our move to Singapore. I knew the hours we will be spending in airports will be countless. And to get her prepared for the journey I brought her a trunki. I ordered it online on Amazon and had it delivered in time for her birthday. Kuttyma loved it. It was love at first sight. Honestly, anyone would fall in love with it not just a 2 year old.
I prepared her for the long hours by packing the trunki. I kept repeating that her trunki will keep her entertained. We filled the trunki with coloring books, books, puppets, toys and she rode it like a queen. Houston – Moscow – Singapore and then Singapore – Chennai and back. I loved how versatile the trunki was. She could ride and also pull it along. It kept her occupied and it also gave her a sense of owning something and taking care of it as we traveled around.
I wanted to write a review about it then but never got around it.
Last month, we traveled around the globe again. At 2.5 years old, kuttyma understood things much better and she loved the trunki yet again. Singapore – Moscow – Houston and back. And then to Chennai and back. The trunki has become a part of our travel entourage.
Pros:
Lightweight (can be easily carried and stowed under the seats in economy class)
Easy to navigate (once you get a hang of it. Kuttyma now can steer the trunki with her feet in the airports)
Gives the child a sense of ownership and responsibility
Bright colors (I want the blue and green one also!)
Cons:
Opening it (is a pain. I understand it is easier when kuttyma does not open it by herself but still this aspect of the trunki needs improvement)
It gets stopped at every security check – I have opened the trunki for the security folks millions of times. For some reason they think the trunki hides something dangerous inside it.
Not very useful for storage. (Do not expect the trunki to hold a lot of stuff. It is just for holding few pieces and cannot be organized well. Everything falls out when you open it. Also if you put in heavy stuff (I put in some of my books) it becomes hard to steer.
Trip hazard. Toddlers fall down all the time and adding the trunki to the already chaotic mix of bags and boxes is a mess.
If you have travel in your future and a toddler to entertain I would suggest investing in the trunki. I usually have stickers ready to entertain kuttyma as we wait to check-in. She decorates her trunki with stickers and keeps herself busy. I have found multiple ways to use it for entertainment during air travel.
Go ahead satisfy your love and entertain your toddler along the way
