Artsy Craftsy March and a lil something

Okie! I know it is no longer March (I even posted my entries for the April Artsy-Craftsy but I finally got this done). Before I show you what I did using Artsy-Crafty as an excuse for things that I need to have done anyways, I want to show you the award Shruti, of Artsy Craftsy fame gave me

And as a part of this award, I am supposed to write 7 things about me,

– I am scared of not being able to do-it-all. I worry about not having completed everything I want to do before it is my turn to bid adieu

– I am impatient and need results instantly – that is the reason I am really not good in many things

– Most of my creative inspirations hit me when I am in the shower

– I love my earrings big and dangling

– Bohemian describes me to a T.

– I am not as green as I wish to me

– I long for a vacation – it has been ages since I had a nice relaxing one.

Photo Flashcards

Kuttyma has just started enjoying flashcards. We have animal flash cards and she has a great time identifying different animals. I decided family photo flash cards will be a great way to teach her relationships. It is hard explaining relationships to her with most of our family miles away. Skype and phone calls are never enough. This is my attempt to introduce her to our family.

I made these cards using MS Word and printed them on cardstock, cut them out and laminated them.

I put them photo facing her in a line and call out relationships and she picks the flashcard corresponding to the person and passes it to me. Currently I have pictures of close family, I hope to add the extended family as she gets confident with the close family relationships. As she grows older and we go deeper into relationships, I plan to ask her questions like “Who is X’s son?”

Nice idea with the photo flashcards. I did those too when my son was around 3…it does help them a lot to identify family who are miles away and whom they don’t get to see often. I am still working with my son (and he is 5 now btw) on those relationship questions like the one you had at the end of your post! I think it will be a while before he gets the hang of it. 🙁
