Be Just and Fear Not
I think I have never written about my school on this blog. I studied at RSK, Trichy and as many RSKites will passionately endose – the best school ever. It is our “family” school and by that I mean, my mom studied there, my brother, myself and a bunch of cousins and relatives studied there. Each one of us different and unique and RSK had teachers that inspired each one of us.
A few weeks back I spotted an email in the school groups about a reunion in Chennai. The host’s name seemed familiar and I forwarded the email to my mother and ofcourse she knew the host really well. We decided to go and what a fun day it was.
Around 30-40 RSK alumni and couple of Brothers (Bro.Patrick and Bro.Thomas) came to the meet. It was good seeing successful alumni from all walks of life. Healthy conversation, great memories, cheesy nicknames, fashion trends of the 80’s were all discussed.
Most of the alumni were from the 70’s and 80’s batches. A few from the 90’s. And a grand total of 2 people from the 2000s batches made it.
I was hoping to meet some friends – I did not but I came back with great memories of school days. I have probably never said this but RSK and the inspiring teachers there brought out my love for writing, reading and dancing. The Brothers of Monfort and the teachers at RSK encouraged me to go for my dreams and never to stop short of it. They taught me to “Be Just and Fear Not”
My thanks to the great hosts Mrs.Grija and the team that pulled it all together.
I leave you with some pictures taken there and the song that I have been humming since yesterday
A Nation’s strength lies in its youth
We’ve heard the wise men say.
And youth must be well disciplined
In study and at play.
‘Tis here, within these walls we learn
What sages taught of old
And walk in footsteps left behind
By Bharat’s heroes bold
.Let’s sing with joy together
In voices loud and clear
We love our Alma Mater
The school to us so dear.
The Green and White forever
Our colours and our pride
“Be just and fear not”
Our motto and our guide.

November 15, 2012 at 11:04 pmI do not know what I felt – I felt sort of nostalgic and lost maybe. School days seemed to be more structured and defined than days these days
