Book Suggestions

I am actively looking for book suggestions. Post a comment about your favorite books and I would love to read them. Or you can tell me about books you want to review so that you can pick one up. Or just some random book.

Fiction, motivational, philosophy, text book – it really does not matter. I would prefer an English book over a Tamil one (Given that those are the 2 languages I know)

Life is too short for all the books I want to read but then I also want to experience the books you read.

I’m hooked onto Meg Cabot books right now. If you like light reads she is good as well as Sophie Kinsella. I love Mary Higgins Clark and Mary Jane Clark for mystery reads. Carol Higgins Clark is also very engaging.

The two recent reads come to my mind – The Sea by John Banville (a winner of the Booker Prize) and Gold Boy and Emerald Girl by Yiyun Li.

Of what I’ve read recently, I really liked Serious Men by Manu Joseph,
If you haven’t read No 1 Ladies Detective Agency series – a must read
I’m on to Ponniyin Selvan now…
Also discovered the Kurt Wallander Series by Henning Mankell…liking it

Hi Vinitha! I’m not the biggest book worm but one book that really stood out for me (and most probably because I related to it) was “In the Time of the Butterflies” by Julia Alvarez. It was inspired by the true story of the three Mirabal sisters who, in 1960, were murdered for their part in an underground plot to overthrow the government.

The related part was that my mother gave me that book when I lived in Venezuela and was part of the opposition to overthrow Hugo Chavez’ government 🙂

I have it in Spanish and English if you are interested 🙂
