Creature of Routine
They say babies love routine but what about moms? I am not sure about others but I live for my routine. It is so much easier to have a routine. It really throws me out of my comfort zone when I need to get out of my routine. By routine, I mean the work week routine. With a toddler and a 25 mile commute – I need my routine to keep sane. It also keeps me motivated and productive.
This is probably not an earth-shattering discovery. I bet it has been discussed by many before. But it just hit me one Monday morning when I was late. My mornings are quite crazy. Breakfast, lunches to be packed, protecting my formal workwear from food strains, getting my toddler ready, getting dinner stuff into the slowcooker and finally strapping kuttyma in her carseat, buckling up, turning on the nursery rhymes CD and heading out. Daycare, goodbyes and then I hit the freeway for my commute to work.
Anything beyond a 10 minute delay gets me worked up. The reasons are simple, I do not get the easy access express parking at the daycare, the roads are more crowded and I am just not comfortable.
I am a creature of routine and I love my routine. How can I ever live without them?
Are you a creature of routine?

April 18, 2011 at 12:04 amI totally agree when you say routine becomes inevitable once you had a baby. I never cared about a routine when I was single. But now I find routine helps me find more time to spend with kutti “r” 🙂

April 16, 2011 at 10:28 am@kannamma – my routine changes as kuttyma demands
@Merlyn – routine is kind of hard to fall into place. It became more crucial after I had a baby

April 15, 2011 at 7:51 pmI am not a person of routine, neither am I time oriented. Getting into a routine is aspirational for me… especially for things like say reading (that seldom happens) browsing (happens in large quantities), workouts, studying etc I would like to set in a routine… Someday! 🙂
