Egyptian Hieroglyphs

The theme for Artsy-Craftsy June is Folk Crafts. To find something that kuttyma can do was a challenge for me. Warli, Madhubhani and other folk art forms are really not meant for almost 2 year olds. One of kuttyma’s favorite activities/games is to identify pictures I draw (if anyone knows how I draw, you will probably be calling child protection services this minute and complain of mental torture to a toddler).

I adapted our usual game to fit into this month’s theme – here is it Egyptian Hieroglyphs – toddler version. Egyptian hieroglyphs used a lot of pictures unlike many other cultures to describe things which was the reason I choose to try these with kuttyma.

A piece of play doh (modeling clay – the ancient Egyptians used real clay) rolled out and a tooth pick used as a stylus. Here is a quick picture of our “ancient Egyptian Hieroglyph”

I clicked it with my phone before a pair of tiny hands claimed them – hence the bad quality.

And whatever I showed must have made a difference coz this is what kuttyma played with after my quick Egyptian Hieroglyph demo

🙂 Kuttyma will be so proud of this when she grows up & reads this post. You really put your heart into all that you do with her 🙂
Huggs.. N I love the attempt. When Lil P was 2 years old, I hardly did any craft with her.. You do inspire me so much.
