Family Time in Batam
I lived in Singapore for nearly 2 years and never took the time to take the ferry across to Batam, Indonesia. I finally did it last month. We flew into Singapore and transited to Batam. As I passed the familiar landmarks of Singapore, I felt a tug. My two years in Singapore was bitter-sweet but I did create memories in the city. I didn’t realize how much I missed the high-rises and stunning architecture Singapore has till I saw it again. From the efficient, clean and beautiful Changi airport to the Super Trees at the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore did leave its mark.
Batam in itself is not on any travel lists. The place is industrial with dirty beaches unlike many other parts of Indonesia. There isn’t much to see or do. We spent couple of weeks in a treehouse (almost) in a rainforest in Batam. But it was great fun spending time with family and creating memories.
A few pictures to document and remember the days in Batam.
