First Love and Peer Pressure
One of her latest favorite books is “Fox in Socks”. Filled with silly tongue twisters and she nevers gets tired of repeating the lines of Dr.Seuss. You can read the text here. Her present favorite lines are
“New goo. Blue goo. Gooey. Gooey. Blue goo. New goo. Gluey. Gluey”
She keeps repeating them often. One evening after school
Her: Mommy, I say “New goo. Blue goo. Gooey. Gooey” in school today
Me: Good!
Her: I told it to X and Y (her two friends at school)
Me: Great – what did X and Y say?
Her: They kept their face like this (She imitates a face – which looked like the look of trying hard not to smile and a look of indulging the narrator)
Me: Oh! Why did they do it?
Her: Oh X loves me mommy! He loves me when I say New goo

Our weekday morning routine includes a few minutes of play time with Z who lives in the same apartment complex. Z goes to a different school and kuttyma and Z have a good time while waiting for their respective school buses. One morning, Z was dressed up as a Disney Princess complete with a tiara. It was Prince and Princesses day at school to celebrate Children’s day ( I was super shocked – it is not going to be long before such a theme came to my daughter’s school)
Her: Mommy! Z is very pretty today
Me: She is always pretty. Today she is wearing a nice dress
Her: Can I dress up like her Mommy? Please mommy
So time to teach her about Rani Laxmi Bhai and other princess who go beyond the clichéd beauty, marriage, balls and gowns. Suggestions?

I have always struck deals with her and honestly I did not know she understood the meaning of the word deal till this conversation
Me: You finish your food and I will …. I will take bath
Her: That is not a good deal mommy
Bham! She does know the difference
