Flower Candle Holders
My next entry for the Artsy-Craftsy Challenge again made with styrofoam cups. It is very similar to the previous entry but the end result is something totally different. My Deepavali table is going to be decorated with these candle holders (ofcourse I plan to buy some nice red, orange and yellow paints and get my candle holders to look festive instead of the candy pink and maroon tones they sport here)
The Methodology
With a scissors cut strips at the open end of the cup – the number of cuts and the depth of the cuts determine the look of the holders. I learned the hard way that too many cuts is really not the best. Put the cut in a cookie sheet (open end facing up) on a cookie sheet and pop it into a 350 degree F preheated oven. Watch the cups melt into flowers in a minute. Pull it out and let it cool completely. Paint and embellish.
They also make excellent candy holders or party favors (ideal for a flower themed party on a budget). You can also string them together to form a garland.
