For Your Desktop
Phew! It has been a crazy week. I have no internet at home in addition to travel, family time and exhaustion. But I did do a couple of projects for the Artsy-Craftsy challenge. I am typing this up in MS Word and sending it with R on a flash drive so that he can post it from his work. I will get back to everyone once my connection is reinstalled. Till then enjoy these crafts.
Just when I was thinking there was no thermocol in the US I saw some thermocol pieces in my garage. They probably came along with some electronic item and they were just waiting to be trashed. They were such an odd shape but I still wanted to use them to make something for the challenge.
this was the piece of thermocol
this is what I turned it into
Materials needed
Thermocol sheet (I trimmed the projections in mine to make it a flat piece)
Gift-wrapping paper
Old CDs
Old pieces of cloth (optional)
Small notepad
Silk flowers, leaves for embellishments
Glue
Cover the piece of thermocol in the gift-wrapping paper. Cover the CDs with cloth or paper cut out into circles and let them dry. Use a knife and cut a small slit on the covered thermocol where the CD with be inserted. Pour some glue into it and insert the covered CD and hold it in position till the glue dries and the CD stands straight. (I used hot glue to speeden up the process – patience was/is never my strong point – watching glue dry is not my cuppa). Do the same with the second CD. Space the CDs so that there is enough space between them to place few sheets of papers.
Make a hole on the Styrofoam cup hat and covert it into a penholder and stick it on the covered sheet. Stick the notepad (I used a mini sticky notepad). Embellish with some flowers, buttons, ribbons or whatever you feel like.
Your desktop organizer is now ready. Mine is next to my landline and it is really cute and useful.
A perfect gift for anyone. Change up the colors and embellishments to make a perfect gift for Dad for Father’s day.
