Lantern Craft

Singapore celebrates Lantern Festival – aka Mooncake festival or Mid Autumn festival. There seems to be a confusion on why it is celebrated. Different Asian countries have something similar to this festival and each region celebrates it for a different reason.

We went to a lantern festival at the Chinese Garden and it was beautiful to see the lanterns lit up and the whole garden decorated. We made a small lantern at home to celebrate the festival.

Materials used

Milk jug

Tissue paper (kuttyma choose her favorite colors – pink and purple)

diluted glue

We added a smokeless candle inside and it looked beautiful. A great cheap recycle craft for preschoolers

She also did a sponge painted paper lantern at school
