Mom and Daughter
Many years ago before motherhood knocked my door, I was at a nail salon. I saw a mom and tween daughter probably aged around 8 get their nails done together. They giggled as they selected the nail colors. They gossiped over the pages of the magazines that seem to lie around all nail saloons. I watched them in awe. It stayed with me over the years as you can see.
As kuttyma grew up I often wondered what that bonding factor will be. Will we be a mom and daughter bonding over shopping sessions? Will we be the mom and daughter duo who workout together? Or another pair at the nail salon?
I got the answer. We will be the mom and daughter at the theater shows – watching classical dance performances. Going gaga over the splits and pointes. Drooling over the costumes and crushing over dancers. Dreaming about being on stage and dazzling the audience.
Ours heads together, whispering in the darkened theater we watched a ballet performance couple of weeks back. We literally ignored R who was on the other side. As I bent my head to whisper yet another comment to my daughter, I realized this was going to be us. We will be there watching shows over the years.
