Oatmeal Apple Crisp

For Nivi

This is a total healthy and yummy breakfast/snack option. I made it last Friday and I cannot wait to make it again.

Oatmeal Apple Crisp

Feeds: 4

Adapted from Recipezaar

3 small apples sliced (you can do pears too or a mix)

1/3 cup unsweetened apple juice (water is an acceptable substitute)

1/3 cup water

2-3 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon pumpkin spice mix (ground cloves, nutmeg and ginger combo)

Crisp topping

1 cup oatmeal

1/3 cup wheat flour

1/2 cup sugar

3 tablespoons butter melted

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Mix the first 6 ingredients together and layer them to form the base of a crisp on a baking pan (I used a square pan but any pan works)

In a separate mix the topping ingredients together and mix well so that it seems crumbly. Top the apple mixture with the oatmeal mix evenly.

Pop into the preheated oven for 50 mts till the top is brown and the whole house smells of baking apples and cinnamon.
You can serve this with vanilla icecream or frozen yogurt. I went the healthy mile and served ours with greek yogurt and it was delicious!

Nivi – that is a problem when I post without pictures. No one likes reading through lines and lines. I will try to remember to click some pictures to go with my recipes here afterwards. I am so glad you enjoyed the crisp

350 and it is there somewhere on the recipe

I am not innovative with South Indian stuff – I cook the same ole same ole and hence no Indian recipes. I bet you do not want to know how I make dosai or sambhar right?
