Prof. Snape
It has long been habit – I rarely re-read books. Once read I do not go back. This is one reason I do not prefer to buy books. I donot want to stock up a library with books I rarely go back to. I have no regrets.
I have mentioned before that I am part of The Book Bingo which means a lot of reading. I am loving the challenge as it is making a good dent on my to-be-read list. I have been making wise choices in picking books for the challenge. Some of the categories the Book Bingo concentrates is books which are part of a series and re-reads. I decided to pick up the Harry Potter series to count for 5 in a series and 2 in re-reads (books cannot be double counted!)
I read Harry Potter books the day they were released(most of them) and was awake day and night to finish them . I did not see the movies (I cannot stand adaptations of books) and the latest Harry Potter themed party made me want to re-read the books. I have been borrowing (Thanks XH) and reading the series. I am in Book 5.
I have had quite a few thoughts but here are 2 major things that shook me rather strongly
– I was on Book 2 when I asked myself “Did I really love these books?”. The years have changed the way I prefer my books. If I were to start the HP series today I will probably not do the whole series.
– Characters that I relate with and enjoy have changed rather drastically. I still love Harry, the Weasleys, Dumbeldore and others. But I find myself liking Snape more – much more than I ever did. I surprise myself. I admit that as I re-read the series I have been trying to open my mind and keep preconceived notions out but still Snape is the big villain in the series (well atleast in the first 3 books).
Oh so here I have said it – I like Prof.Snape as much as I like well maybe the Weasleys!
Perspectives change and all you need to do is look back and be open to the change. Resisting change is really not something you want to do. Made me realize – there is nothing wrong with changing the way you feel or think or view something. It really takes someone strong to say “yes” to change.
PS: Lot of change is probably due to this twitter account
