What is red, luscious and fun? A freshly-picked ripe strawberry of course. The fruit is not my favorite but I have been known to enjoy it occasionally. While I often buy a box straight off the super market shelves, my favorite strawberries are freshly picked.

Every spring, farms around Houston throw open their strawberry fields for picking. It has been one of my favorite ways to spend a beautiful Texas Spring day.

Kuttyma loves berries of any kind and strawberries continue to be her absolute favorite fruit. We visited the Froberg’s Farm in Alvin, Texas this time.  We have been there before and love the way the strawberry fields are laid out. It is nothing fancy but perfect for a family-friendly outing.

It looked like most of Houston had the same idea as us yesterday and the farm was busy. We had a wonderful time walking along the lanes, searching for the perfect berries. Before we knew our bucket was full. We hauled back around 5 lbs of strawberries and now I have to get creative with them.

P.S: I knew I had written long back about my visit to the Froberg Farm. I went there in 2011 April. Look how tiny Kuttyma was. Somethings remain the same.
