T: Trichy
I was the typical small-town girl who thought the world was Trichy. Srirangam, Kavery flowing by, Thiruvanaikaval with its dark corners, Uraiyur, Kalannai with its history and not to forget the giant towering Malaikotai, these were my stomping grounds.
A haiku to celebrate the city I was born in – Trichy.
Home the city was
Twenty and one long years
The place called Trichy
Banana plantations
Pungent smells coating the air
River feeding many
Chola, Pallava kings
History rich, vivid, warm
Soaking into lives
Temples for every soul
Seeking redemption and life
Rocky outcrop towers
Famous scientists
Education, music, dance
Calling Trichy home
Thuvakudi, Training Centre
Gandhi Market, Sophy’s
Names roll off the tongue
