Tata Zest : A Review

I am no auto blogger (well I don’t even claim to love cars or driving them for that matter). I am no mechanical engineer to understand and appreciate terminology like Turbocharged  MPFi Petrol engine, Peak Torque of 140 Nm, F-Tronic AMT in Diesel (all of which the Tata Zest is). When I see a car I see its size (compact sedan is my kind of car) and how chic it is (the Zest’s DesignNext is amazingly chic)

I am a blogger and a doodler. I have doodled and written words through many a classroom – in schools, colleges and work. I scribble and doodle as I listen, adding stars, exclamation marks and rainbows to pieces of information I gather. Cutesy (or so I like to think) drawings.

Here are couple of my doodles crammed with everything interesting about the new Zest.

I thought my doodles were rather nice till I saw these amazing artist impressions of the Zest done by Mr.Siva – the lead design engineer for the Tata Zest. My dreams of being a Design Engineer died rather painfully last night.

Buckled in and teamed up with Khusboo and Avinash, we zested away into the picturesque lanes of Goa on a brand-new petrol turbo-charged Zest. The route took us through churches, paddy fields drenched with monsoon drizzle, the backwaters and Goan color. I was quite unsure if I wanted to relax and enjoy the cozy comfort of the Zest interiors or try to capture the scenic beauty outside. The car redefines comfort. The seats cradle you, the sound system lulls you, the best in class climate control balance the temperature and the airflow perfectly, the engine (sandwiched between absorptive layers and barriers) hums very silently in the background and you are filled with peace – a zestful existence.

The Diesel Tata Zest – chic is’nt she?

I may never use it but I L.O.V.E the Sport mode – ideal for zooming away with music blasting along. Shifting to the Eco mode is a breeze – a press of a button actually. You can feel the difference immediately – quieter and ideal for those road trips.

I got my hands on the Automatic Diesel – a first in the segment and a personal first. I have never driven a Diesel automatic. I was amazed at the smoothness of the ride and the relative silence. We rolled down the windows and let the wind play with out hair. The comfort of the signature steering wheel, the easily readable and adjustable controls filled me with contentment. I could have gone on driving and stopping at every building that captured my eye. It was that kind of car.

The dark clouds, the green fields – beauty is all around

The TATA Zest is the kind of car you would take your family and friends in. You will laugh and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. You will add a new Zest to your life. Go ahead, test drive one, you will discover a new zest in your life.
