The Asian Civilisations Museum
I can spend days at this place – beautiful documentation of Asia. A must visit if you are a museum aficionado. The special exhibits when I visited were the Salak Yom: Trees of gift from Thailand and Enlighted Ways: The many streams of Buddhist art in Thailand
I absolutely adored the Salak Yim exhibit and tradition. Young girls decorate trees (bamboo pole) with their handicrafts and gifts for Buddhist monks. It was amazingly creative, inspiring and beautiful.
I want to go there again and soak it all in. There are great video and audio stories/interviews to support the exhibits. The Singapore history section captures the city perfectly. I wish they were more kid-friendly. That is my only gripe. They are too serious for anyone less than the age of 15.
P.S: The ACM building is a beauty in itself
