The bigger fool

I see these deo/body spray for men ads on TV and find a common theme – use the product and a skimply-clad woman lusts after him. It is so vulgar and unbearable like the one below.

Axe Ad

Another industry that believes in using the same concept is the motorbike industry. I wonder if men really believe it works and buy the product. Do men fall for such stupidities? If they did not actually believe the concept will they not stop supporting the brand?

Is the modern, educated western attire clad woman such a bimbo? Swooning over a guy because of his perfume or the vehicle he drives?

Similarly, there are ads where men swoon over a perfume or talc clad woman. It is so fake and artificial.

Are ad-film makers such fools? Do they really have no creativity in trying to market a brand? I have always loved ads more than normal TV shows and always thought Indian ads were way better than the ones on American TV.

This leaves me with the bigger question – who is the bigger fool – the consumer or the ad-fim maker?

I remember old ads having the same concept but I was hoping the ad industry would have grown as fast as India did… but unfortunately it is not true. Favorite ads – I have a few, I think you just gave me an idea for a new post! Thanks

I am still in India… and I am hoping to get back soon.
