Here are my top books for the first month of 2023!
- The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas
This was such a good book! Teo is just a Jade, so he’s ready to sit back and watch The Sunbearer Trials while the Golds participate. But when he and another Jade get selected, suddenly his life is torn apart. Teo has to learn to believe in himself and who his real friends are while trying not to get last and be sacrificed. This was such an amazing book and I can’t wait to read the next one! - The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie
When Hercule Poirot gets a mysterious anonymous note signed by A.B.C., he dismisses it at first. But when the note leads to a murder, he’s suddenly alert and knows that he has to figure out who the murderer is. Each note leads him to another murder and each victim’s name begins with the next letter of the alphabet. Poirot knows he has to solve the murder before the killer gets too far down the alphabet, and assembling family and clues, he might be able to… This is such a great book! I really enjoyed it and I totally recommend it to you. - They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman
The Players run the school. Everyone knows who they are and everybody wants to be them. But this year’s Players have lived through the death of another Player, one of the most popular ever. Everyone seems determined to forget about her, including Jill. But when she gets a mysterious text from the alleged killer’s sister, she decides to start investigating again and what she finds just might reveal the real truth about the murdered Player… This was such a good book and I really enjoyed it! - Mythology by Edith Hamilton
This was such a good informational book! It had a lot of mythological stories and covered most, if not all, of the Greek mythology stories that we know of. The books also talked about some of the Roman and Norse mythology stories which were incredibly interesting as well. I also got to learn about the Odyssey and the Iliad, two stories which I always wanted to learn about, but never did, until now. It’s an amazing book and I totally recommend it to you! - Anger is a Gift by Mark Oshiro
